Adaptability
The STAR System was designed to be easily adaptable to the specific environment in
which it is installed as well as to complex and dynamic business rules and processes.
•
Flexible design
-
Using an XML-based workflow engine and a graphical workflow
design editor, the STAR System easily addresses dramatic changes to business
processes without the need for additional product coding or revision. Workflows
separate business processes and results from coded components while providing
flexibility and process transparency. This separation makes it possible for a system
administrator to revise existing processes or add new processes to respond to
changing needs as legislation and agency rules are amended.
•
Customized functionality
-
A common adaptation requirement in financial and
regulatory environments is the addition of data elements that allow users to enter
and track new types of information. In the STAR System customers can define and
add custom data elements called “extended properties” to most objects. To
leverage these extended properties, they can also use the XP (“eXtended
Property”) Form functionality to define forms specific to their business
environment.
•
Robust security features
-
While providing the flexibility needed to adapt to user-
specific environments and requirements, the STAR System also guards against
unauthorized changes. System administrators can easily configure users, roles, and
default security contexts to define and limit the privileges assigned to each user,
thus guaranteeing the integrity of the application.
•
Time-saving legacy support-Each filing, exam, and complaint can be configured
for automatic identification numbering using STAR System key generation. This
flexible feature can be set to assimilate legacy numbering schemes or to configure
new schemes as needs arise.
